Scott was born in Illinois and raised in a small town. He attended state universities there eventually graduating with a degree in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1981.
After college he moved to Massachusetts to work as a software engineer on a variety of projects including compiler development, optical inspection systems, two stints in dot-com era start-ups, and finally ending up at Verocel, Inc.
a company specializing in safety-critical software and systems.
He enjoys following minor league baseball (including his beloved Lowell Spinners
), major league teams including the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs, and even a little football (though he makes no claims about knowing anything about it). He also reads a great deal, follows politics, current events, and technology trends.
